Lee Roy Selmon's lifestyle is a combination of football scholarship, family work and involvement in the community. In the first place Selmon was born with Lucious Semon and his wife Jessie, on an agricultural property near Eufala located in Oklahoma as one of their nine children. In football, he was alongside three brothers from Oklahoma. The three brothers all made All-America. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in all of the nation. In the three years that Roy was on the field, Oklahoma won two National Championships. A third scholarship saw him named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon was awarded a degree from Education. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week during his time at college. After graduating Lee Roy relocating to Tampa where he spent 9 years with the Buccaneers. Three times, he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. The first position he held was an Account Relations Manager at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked on the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being one of the top 10 youngsters from the United States. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs in his college days. He was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993 he was appointed associate director of the University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor that made the award.
